About Us

Who We Are

Support Networks is a project from Windmill Torbay, established in 2016 we have years of experience helping people find the right support for their lives.

We specialise in supporting people who receive Direct Payments, helping you understand your options, recruit the right Personal Assistant (PA), and feel confident managing your support.

We're not a care agency, and we don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.

Instead, we work alongside you to explore support options that actually fit your life.

What Makes Us Different

You stay in control

You choose who supports you, how things work, and what matters most

We support, not take over

We guide you through the process, but you remain in charge every step of the way

We keep things simple

No jargon, no confusion. Just clear, honest guidance you can actually use

We're with you for the journey

From your first question to finding the right PA (and beyond), we're here when if need us

What We Do

We break things down into manageable steps so you never feel overwhelmed

We can support you to:
  • Understand what a Direct Payment means for you

  • Talk through your needs, goals, and outcomes

  • Write and post a job advert

  • Find and meet potential Personal Assistants

  • Understand employment options and responsibilities

  • Feel confident managing your support moving forward

Our Approach

We know that arranging support can feel overwhelming, especially when you're expected to understand funding, employment, and care all at once.

That's where we come in.

We take the time to listen, explain things clearly, and support you at your pace. No pressure, no assumptions, just practical help where you need it.

Our aim is simple:
To give you choice, control and confidence in how your support works.

Who We Support

We work primarily with people across Torbay who receive, or are considering a Direct Payment.

This includes:

  • Individuals managing their own support

  • Family members or representatives

  • People exploring alternatives to traditional care

If your support is not funded by Adult Social Care we can still help, click here to find out more.
